Americorps: VISTA - Juvenile Defense
Network
The Youth Advocacy Project, a multidisciplinary initiative of the state’s public defender office that combines legal, clinical,
and community outreach services for court-involved youth in the courts and the community, is seeking a VISTA member to enhance
capacity of the Development Department of the Youth Advocacy Project. This exciting position offers an opportunity to effect
positive change in the juvenile justice system.
Responsibilities: Update existing training materials, assist in
developming new training materials; assist in developing new
training topics; serve as liaison between JDN and county bar
advocate programs to meet the training needs of lawyers; assist in
maintaining and updating JDN lawyer database and expert database;
assist in the research of systemic issues that JDN works on;
maintain statistics on advice calls, number of lawyers we reach and
number of children effected by the lawyers we train; assist in
compiling data for grant management.
Requirements:
Strong candidates will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
and Access
software. Should be well organized and able to manage a project from start to finish. Should be self-motivated and committed to
juvenile justice issues.

allowance, a choice between an education award or end-of-service stipend at the completion of one year of service, health insurance,
and childcare assistance subsidies. PLEASE NOTE: VISTA MEMBERS MAY NOT BE IN SCHOOL OR WORKING ANOTHER JOB WHILE COMPLETING THEIR

Salary:
Annual Living Allowance: $11,388 + Choice between End-of-service Educational Award or Stipend + Health Coverage
